Nusa Dua

A lovely end to a wonderful holiday.

We left the Bali Hyatt feeling a little sad knowing our Bali holiday was coming to an end.
On the way over to Nusa Dua i became very excited at the prospect of having a couple of days in a different location with new surroundings.
Rob sat in the front with our wonderful driver Kutut and chatted to him all the way over non stop,Ketut said he felt so privileged to have been our driver for the last two weeks and was not looking foward to our departure. On arrival at The Grand Hyatt we felt so proud to be driven up the driveway to this Grand entrance by Ketut. It was a very sad goodbye to such a lovely gentleman.

On check in we were advised that they had given us a complimentary upgrade to a Ocean facing room as we had just spent the last 15 days at their sister hotel in Sanur,we were very happy and the view was to die for.SDC12095.jpg
The room itself was just beautiful.SDC12091.jpg

It has been 10years since our last stay in Nusa Dua and i had forgotten just how beautiful it is,the beaches are of a different colour sand and water and are just so inviting.

We decided to have a look around this amazing hotel,it was huge and really well laid out, occupancy was at 95% and you would not have known. The pools were huge and just beautiful, along with the gardens.
we decided to have lunch overlooking the pool and the food was lovely and healthy and cocktails yummy.SDC12106.jpgSDC12117.jpg

After a relaxing afternoon we went over to the Bali Collection which is just across the road from the Hyatt,i sat rob in a bar so i could have a look around the shops, one thing i noticed were the prices,a little more expensive than Kuta Legian and Sanur but when talking in Rupiah it was not that much more.SDC12167.jpg

Decision time, where should we eat tonight?lucky for the i phone and free wi fi in the bar we were able to get onto Trip Advisor, decisions decisions as every restaurant looked so nice so we had a look at the menus then ended up at Aroma and it was lovely with heaps of people and good value food and drinks.

We actually relaxed for the last two days on the beach with the lovely beach ladies whom sell their goods to you whilst you are doing nothing, brilliant way to shop. Its been a few years since i have noticed these beach vendors with their hats on saying you remember me (like how can you forget) I will not buy from these beach people in Legian a they are just too pushy for me.
SDC12104.jpg
All good things come to an end, last day is always a sad day but i can say im ready to go home, we had a wonderful time and will be taking with us fond memories of another wonderful holiday.
I really would like to thank each and everyone of you who take the time to contribute to this forum as without you all we would not have had such a great time.

Today is also a very exciting day for Rob as it is State of Origin 2,we farewell the Bakers and head off to the Lazer Sports Bar to watch the game live.
The place is packed with Aussies all ready for the big game.By the end of the first half Rob has made friends with the next table,i sort of didnt like the look of the food so i decided to return to the hotel and leave Rob with his new friends and enjoy the game.
I had a lovely big bubble bath then enjoyed room service,it was devine.
Rob returned home very happy that NSW won.SDC12035

We enjoyed as many lovely lunches as we did dinners whilst in Sanur. The beauty of it is that you have so many choices. This trip i ventured from my comfort zone and tried a new lot of cafes on the beach walk,my new favourite being Bali Sun Cafe, the food, drinks and coffee were great. My best lunch was my potato and bacon salad.SDC12059

When in Bali i always like to take the time to talk to the locals and learn as much as i can,one paticular day i sat with the ladies making the baskets for the offerings, this is a really time consuming task as they need to be at it all day to have enough for the next day.they tried to show me what to do but for the life of me could not produce anything that looked like a basket.SDC11699

Ok my gripe for this trip was the behaviour of certain hotel guests,i know it is only some but the way they treat the staff is appalling, you can see by the sadness in their eyes they are at a total loss as to why they are being treated like this.It was because of this paticular group that thought the place revolved around them that we decided to trasfer over to The Grand Hyatt in Nusa dua.
I will share some of my favourite Sanuar photos with you.

Part two

Sanur

Ok so all the relaxing is done our friends have arrived and are all set to go non stop.
We leave the hotel at 9am after a lovely breakfast,we head off to Poppies lane 2 at Belindas request,(i much prefer Poppies 1)
Belinda is a shop aholic and she was on a mission, not knowing how to bargain or understand the currency it was left up to me,all said and done in two hours after Taylor had her hair braided we were not even around the first bend.I said you stay here with Taylor and i will go and meet Gary and Rob at the bar and have a drink.SDC11883.jpgSDC11884

It is now getting very hot and we are starting to get hungry so Ketut takes us to Waterbom well let me tell you it was the longest trip ever as it is holiday time in Bali,Jakarta and Java and traffic is horrendous.
We decided to have lunch at Oceans 7 at Discovery mall before the kids (Rob Gary and Taylor) left for Waterbom and Belinda and I shopped,it was a good spot as we could all have a swim in their pool to cool down.
Again we shopped for hours and actually got some good bargains.SDC11893

Arrived back at the hotel exhausted but had a great day, showered and headed off to Charming for dinner,it was absolutley beautiful.
Next morning we walked down to Sindhu beach market for more shopping, and a lovely morning tea,i cannot resist the beautiful cakes in Bali.SDC11983

Next day we sent the Bakers off to Safari Park so we had a relaxing day around the pool,we told them we would meet them for dinner at 7pm as we were meeting some TA friends that again we have never met at the Ducks Nutz.
So off to the Ducks Nutz we head, what a great pup and packed to the rafters, well once again i had no idea who i was looking for. With the help of Ron we descovered Lizzy and Lindley were sitting at the next table waiting for us. The problem was Lizzy did not have the Tiara on.
It was an instant connection with us and we had the most amazing time ever, lots of things in common and believe it or not our son and their daughter who are both the same age were born with the same heart defects.
Well seven hours later with many drinks consumed we were still talking non stop.It was such a pleasure to meet such beautiful people.SDC11931

Beautiful Bali

June 2011

Arrival
Arrived 10.00pm Denpasar,no problems with immigration or customs, straight through and out to driver within 20mins.
Have to mention that i kept an eye on all those that purchased VIP arrival and we were out before them all, makes one wonder if it is really worth it.
Arrived at the Bali Hyatt in Sanur at 10.50pm to wonderful smiling faces and a big welcome home from all that remembered us.
We decided to just chill out and unwind and do nothing much at all for the first few days as we had friends(first timers) arriving on Thursday and knew we would be flat out showing them around.
Slept well however still being on Sydney time woke at the crack of dawn and just sat on the balcony taking it all in.
My old saying is i can smell it,see it but just cant touch it so it was lovely to be able to finally touch it.
After breakfast headed down the beach walk to the left and had coffee at Bonsai Cafe and did alot of people watching.
We then ventured to Hardys to buy the essentials (bintang for hubby) and a few bits and peices.
We did not pre book a driver so Robs job was to find a good one for 15 days as we needed a clean airconed van and most importantly good english speaking ond of course personality plus.
Rob did very well he employed the services of Ketut ParwataOur wonderful driver Ketut

Our wonderful driver Ketut

Ketut was fantastic value and good fun and very very cheap. If you would like his details please PM me.
Tonight we headed off for our first blind date to meet up with a couple we met here on the forum, how funny as i had no idea who we were looking for so the kind waiter said he will let us know when they arrive.
Karyn and Sam were lovely people who escaped the kids to celebrate Karyns birthday in Bali,it was lovely to meet, chat and have a few drinks.

The next few days we just chilled out,ate drank, and had a very merry time.
Places we ate were Mona Lisa, most dissapointed this time.Mozzarella in Legian still simply the best,Poppies my very old time favourite,Cafe Jepun wonderful ate here twice,Mazzimos fantastic ate here twice and Charming always a pleasure to eat here.
